Until my wife and I bought our first house, I never understood the benefit of having a Real Estate Agent to help us and guide us through the process.  Now, having gone through the purchase of a house, I would never consider going through the process without an Agent. Ellen Hanson Walker did a fantastic job for us, and help us through what would have been a very trying ordeal.

Ellen Hanson Walker did a fantastic job for us from start to finish.  She was professional and prompt during all of our house-hunting trips.  She had thoughtfully and carefully planned out our house-viewing route. She quickly learned our tastes and was quick-witted enough to modify the route to skip houses that we weren't suited to us.  Each successive trip was better in that she was able to focus more and more on houses that we were likely to be interested in.  By the last time that we went out, we had the delightful problem of having several houses that we wanted to purchase!

When it came time to actually make our first offer on a house, Ellen did a great job of explaining the process of the offers and counter-offers, and made sure that we understood everything that  was happening.  Throughout the whole process, she was very communicative, and we received frequent status updates.  That really helped put our minds at ease as we were very anxious and excited at the prospect of owning a home.  Because of her expertise as an Agent, we received consistently good advice on how to handle the offers and counter-offers.  Without her guidance, we would have been clueless as to what the comparable houses were selling for, and we could never have negotiated as good of a deal for ourselves.

As Escrow proceeded, she made sure that we knew what our rights and obligations were, and walked us through the important tasks.  However, the way that she handled the last week of our Escrow really convinced me that having a competent Agent, such as Ellen, is essential.  During the last week, we ran into several issues with the seller.  Ellen worked tirelessly on our behalf to handle the situation and fix the problems that arose.  She was instrumental in getting all of the issues settled before the close of Escrow.  When Ellen heard that my wife and I were having  difficulty arranging a time to sign the escrow papers, she arranged to have a traveling notary come to our house! She was also invaluable in acting as buffer and calming agent to keep what could have been a difficult situation from boiling over.  In the last couple of days of escrow, everything was settled and we were able to close without incident.

Now that I've gone through the process of process of buying a house, I can't imagine buying or selling a house without Ellen by our side.  I don't know how we could have handled the issues that came up without her, and we will be forever grateful to her hard work and know-how in getting our deal closed.
